WFWP International became an “NGO in general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations” in 1997. This status was renewed in 2001 based on the preparation of a quadrennial report. Consultative status is granted by ECOSOC upon recommendation of the ECOSOC Committee on NGOs, which is comprised of 19 Member States.

The Women’s Federation for World Peace, International (WFWPI) was established in 1992 by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon in an effort to address the confusion of a world seeing a breakdown in family ethics, as well as the escalation of racial and religious struggles.
