Afternoon Tea
The members of WFWP UK invited 12 UPA Cadets from Korea for a traditional English afternoon tea experience on Saturday 8th July 2017.

It was a very hot day outside but we managed to keep a little cool with fans going in every corner of the Kent room in Lancaster Gate.

Our afternoon began with a welcome by Mrs Helena Stout, to the young UPA Cadets and they very kindly opened the afternoon with a short introduction of their work followed by singing two lovely songs accompanied by a guitar player. As part of the welcome we gave the Cadets a brief presentation with four speakers. The first speaker Ms. Brenda Hodgson gave a short talk on the history and origins of Afternoon Tea in England.

This was followed by an introduction to the Cadets about our 3rd annual WFWP Young Womens Speech Competition to be held in October and is organised by Mrs Taeko Duckworth.  Taeko showed a few clips of film from previous years to give the Cadets an idea of the professionalism of the young women who put themselves forward each year for this competition.

Our next Speaker was Matthew Huish the National president of FFWPU. Matthew spoke very highly of WFWP International as it was obvious to him that the aims and goals of WFWP are always maintained and adhered to and have structure which helps make WFWP projects successful.

Our last speaker was Jeungsun Shongew  who is the director of  CARP she shared about some  of their youth projects

To finish the presentation we had three lovely young singers, Amy Brown, Dong Soon Chen and Hannah Gough who sang us a song with melodious harmonies. They were beautiful singers and sung well together.

The afternoon tea experience took place next. There were dainty triangle sandwiches with a variety of fillings followed by a selection of cakes. To wash this all down there was tea, coffee.

There was much laughter and chatter in the room as the Cadets sat and ate from their plates.

It was an enjoyable afternoon with much love and friendship in the air and I hope we have given the Cadets a lasting memory of this English afternoon tea experience.
